For me, collecting art is about engaging in an intimate dialogue with the artists. The idea of Culto Colecta arose from my fascination with emerging artists in CDMX, whom I encountered while launching the AYARKUT Foundation that supports artistic projects related to social issues. Working with institutions like PAC, SOMA, Terremoto, Lolita Pank, I discovered the bold and independent art I desired in my collection.
When I started collecting, I realized that many people, even outside the art world, shared an interest in collecting but didn't know where to start. We created this project to cultivate the new generation of artists with the new generation of collectors.
At Culto Colecta, no work costs more than 20 thousand pesos, making it accessible to different economic groups. Additionally, we ensure that 60%-70% of the proceeds from each purchase go directly to the artists.
It is essential for me that collectors get to know the artists behind each work. That's why we've recorded personal videos with each artist selling on our platform. You can find the first interviews on the Reels of our Instagram. In the next video, I'll share the reasons that inspire me and other art enthusiasts to collect these works.
